The Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society

About

George Mason University established the Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society (CSSLS) in March 2012.  Co-directed by John Nauright and David Wiggins, CSSLS brings together scholars interested in all types of sports, competitions, and recreations.  The Center’s focus is both global and domestic.  The involved scholars’ interests range from stick-fighting and colonial sport, to baseball and football (and American football).  Issues of race, class, ethnicity and gender, as they relate to and are illuminated by sport, are priorities as well.

This blog is intended to be a place of discussion about such topics.  A variety of historians and scholars will post.  The format will be informal.  Please join us!
